Summary
The Russians harried the retreating French and Allied forces. This battle involved some of Napoleon's best troops e.g. Chasseurs and Artillery of the Imperial Guard. Although the Russians lost more men than their opponents it wa still their victory as the French were kept on the move and could not settle to re-group or re-supply. Many of the units on the French side were now down to half strength or less and Napoleon could not afford the losses of this battle.
