Summary
This was the opening of the Swiss campaign. The Austrians were spread out without sufficient forward posts. The French, under Massena, did not give them time to concentrate. Most of the casualties, 1450, were as prisoners of war. The French also took ammunition waggons, 12 guns and 3 colours.
Location
A small town in eastern Switzerland in the valley of the Upper Rhine just south of Liechtenstein.
