Magyar Invasions
War Name : Magyar Invasions
Date(s) : 893 - 955
Summary
The Magyars, a nomadic people from east of the Danube, conducted a series of incursions deep into western Europe. Their purpose was to plunder rather than to occupy or settle. Their mode of warfare, fast moving mounted archers, made them difficult to pin down and bring to battle. But as light cavalry they were no match for the heavy cavalry, walled towns and fortresses which were developed to defeat them.
