Summary
A minor but famous victory for Napoleon over the Austrians.
Beaulieu's rearguard under Sebottendorf held a line on the Adda, but an elite unit of French Grenadiers charged and took the bridge under heavy fire. Counter-attacks to retake the bridge were held off by the arrival of Augerau and Massena, then Sebottendorf was forced to retire when French Cavalry forded the river further upstream and threatened his flanks.
