Summary
The allied build up to this seige was extremely slow. The first trenches were opened on the 14th but it was not until the 23rd that a reasonable number of guns were in place. In spite of two effective sorties against the trenches de Reignac, the Governor, was forced to surrender on the 27th, he and his men being made prisoner-of-war.
