Summary
General Sierakowski commanded the main body of the Polish army which included a large number of local levies and peasants armed only with scythes. Three days earlier he had lost his advanced guard at Kobryn and in this battle he lost many more men.
Location
The battle takes its name from an abbey in eastern Poland a few miles to the east of Brest-Litowsk. (Poland)
