Summary
A surprise attack by troops of XIV Corps gained good ground but was later thrown back by a strong counter-attack. Troops of III Corps, in a night attack, seized a strong point, The Pimple, and a length of Snag Trench. II Corps had a very fruitful day with the 25th Div. securing The Mound a useful observation point and 39th Div. finally, ina three battalion 10 hour battle, clearing the Schwaben Redoubt.
