Summary
The French failed to put out security patrols and at the first surprising sign of trouble the two French cavalry regiments fled. Few of the 8,000 Prussian infantry came up to the action as their cavalry had no difficulty cutting down the French infantry. Eleven French guns were carried off.

A town, now called Chojnow, in Silesia [now Poland] just over 10 miles northwest of Liegnitz [now Legnica]. (Poland)
