Summary
Harrassed by the galleys in windless conditions the Swedish fleet under Admiral Ehrenskjold took refuge in a fjord alongside Cape Hangö. The Russian galleys attacked and although suffering heavy losses finally overwhelmed the Swedes.
It was Russia's first victory at sea.
