Summary

When Oudinot retired on Wittenberg after Gross-Beeren his northern flank division under Girard was left isolated. A Prussian corps [16,000 men] and Tschernitcheff's Cossacks [4,000 men] attacked. Less than half the division were able to fight their way back to Oudinot's main body.

A village in northeastern Germany about 31 miles southwest of Potsdam. [The French name this battle 'Lübnitz' after a village 3 miles north of Hagelberg]. (Germany)
