Summary
What was planned as a diversionary raid was developed into a full blown assault by the over ambitious generalship of Lord Blaney. His force was caught on the flank by a superior French division [Sebastiani's 1st Division of IV Corps]. Blaney himself, short-sighted and without his glasses rode into the French and was captured.
