Summary
A war which engulfed the greater part of Europe at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th Centuries encompasing some masterful military victories by Napoleon and his Grande Armee.
The war began with France's declaration of war against the Hapsburg King Francis II of Hungary and the formation of the First Coalition of European powers against France. It ended, after several breaks and resumptions and six more coalitions, with the battle of Waterloo and Napoleon's abdication as Emperor.
