Summary
The Dutch holding the coastal sector under General Opdam were in an entrenched position at Eckeren when they were attacked by the French and Spaniards. The attack came as four columns in total 28 battalions and 49 squadrons outnumbering the Dutch by two to one. The Dutch fled leaving a considerable number of prisoners and a large quantity of materials of war.
