Summary
Douai was covered on three sides by last light of the 22nd June. The main Allied army covered the seige. Considerable engineering works drained the double ditch around the town and trenches were opened on the 4th May. On 9th May some 200 guns arrived and batteries were in action by the 14th May. On the 15th June the Allies re-sited their batteries to their final closest position and on the 25th General Albergotti asked for terms. After two days of negotiations the Allies took control of Douai and Fort Scarpe.
