Summary
Dendermonde had been attacked in late June 1706 but this was not followed through and only a light blockade was kept in place. In late August Marlborough sent his brother Charles with six battalions and 60 guns to strengthen the forces around the town. Allied trenches were re-opened on the 1st September and Dendermonde was in their hands on the 9th September.
