Summary
After the battle for Dego the day before a part of the French force occupied the village. The part of the Austrian army which retreated did not inform Field Marshall Vukassovich who was approaching from the east. The unprepared French were surprised by the force of the Austrian attack and thrown out of the village. The routed French were eventually stopped, reorganized, reinforced and returned to the battle. Their eventual overwhelming numbers told and the Austrians withdrew with significant losses.

A village in the valley of the river Bormida about 13 miles north-northwest of Savona, on the Gulf of Genoa.
