Summary
The Coalition held a strong defensive position on the east bank of the Bormida river. The French fixed the garrison with a frontal attack while pushing out their right flank to prevent support arriving. Another strong French force came up the opposite bank of the river and took the Coalition troops in their right flank and rear.

A village in the valley of the river Bormida about 13 miles north-northwest of Savona, on the Gulf of Genoa.
