Summary
After plundering Coimbra for three days Massena continued his pursuit of Wellington. In the town he left his sick and his hospital staff [about 4000 in all] and his prisoners [about 400]. Col Trant commanding a Portugese militia force struck the town and suffered very few casualties. He freed all the prisoners and captured all the French able bodied and sick.
