Summary
Caratacus had been waging a guerilla war against the Roman occupation. Scapula, Governor of Britain, in AD48 began a systematic campaign to destroy Caratacus. In AD51 the Britons leader chose the ground on which he hoped to break the Roman advance. Superior numbers, training and tactics gave the Romans the victory. It was the last battle for Caratacus.
