Summary
An unsuccessful attempt by the joint British and Russian armies to break through a French and Dutch defensive line blocking the way south to Amsterdam from their landing positions at Helder.
The three attacks, by Abercrombie and Dundas on the flanks and Hermann's Russians in the centre, were uncoordinated, and although gains were made, Brune's lines held and the allied forces retired back to their original positions.
