Summary
Syrians and Egyptians frustrated at the refusal by Israel to negotiate the return of occupied territories launched a surprise two pronged attack. The Israelis pushed back both attacks and drove into Syrian and Egyptian territory. A cease fire was agreed on 11 Nov. 1973 and a peace treaty negotiated which was signed in 1974.
