Summary
Ten squadrons of Prussian Hussars, part of Blucher's rearguard were engaged with the French pursuing cavalry. Their hitherto easy victories had ill-prepared the French for a meeting with Prussians who had not lost their morale nor their fighting spirit. The Prussians were able to release 170 of their comrades who had surrendered to the French earlier that day.
