Summary
Two months after hostilities began the Russian were able to take this strong fortress, 'the Gibraltar of the North' , with very few losses. All Swedes who were not killed in the action [6,850] were taken prisoner. A large amount of military stores and the whole of the Swedish inshore fleet were also taken.
