Summary
The Prince of Orange detached from the main army with 20 battalions and 5 squadrons laid seige to St Venant. The defending garrison under Brigadier de Seloe was 7 battalions strong. After a weak defence of barely a fortnight negotiations for surrender began on the 29th September. The garrison was allowed to evacuate and left the town on the 2nd October.
