XIV Corps. Attacks by 56th Division on both Loop Trench and the line running northwards to the Quadriateral were driven off mainly by machine-gun fire. The Guards Division spent the day fighting off German attacks intent on regaining Ginchy.
XV Corps. The 55th Division fighting on the northeast corner of Delville Wood attempted to occupy Hop Alley and Ale Alley. The were counter-attacked and shelled and machine-gunned out of the ground they gained.
