Summary
A tiny but important engagement. A cavalry brigade of Moore's advanced guard came upon a half-squadron of French Chasseurs à Cheval only one or two escaped to raise the alarm. Hitherto the French had no idea that Moore's force was so close and not retreating on Lisbon as Napoleon thought.
