Summary
British forces under Lord Cathcart were landed in Denmark to support the seizure of the Danish fleet. The reserve division under Wellesley were sent in pursuit of the only part of the Danish army at large. The British caught the Danes at Roskilde, about 15 miles east of Copenhagen. Simultaneous attacks from both front and rear soon brought the Danish surrender at little cost to the British. Wellesley's first European command was a success.
