Summary
The Franco-Prussian force failed in their attempt to take the fortified city-port. Figures given are for the total number engaged on each side during the course of the 148 days. Towards the end the French element [Macdonald's X Corps] was withdrawn from the area. The Russians then commenced efforts to persuade the Prussians to defect. After a clash at Pikupönen 26 December the Prussians signed the Convention of Tauroggen and became allies against the French.
