Summary
With no more than moderate losses on both sides the Austrians gained the position. The Austrian commander had bottled up the Franco-Italians in the old town and believed they were about to surrender. Murat, King of Naples, came up and allowed the Franco-Italians to march out. The Austrian commander was furious but out-ranked.
