Blücher was finally cornered with his remaining troops by Bernadotte's I Corps, Soult's IV Corps and Murat's Reserve Cavalry Corps. The Prussians surrendered from a hopeless situation with Blücher famously annotating the document: 'I capitulate because I have no bread and no ammunition'.
