Summary
The French Reserve Cavalry Corps under Murat bluffed the Prussian into believing there was a significant infantry presence around the town. The Prussian force was made up of units retreating from Jena/Aüerstadt and their leaders including Prince Hohenlohe had no fight left in them. The Prussian surrendered without any attempt to break out.
