XV Corps. The 14th Division was given the task of clearing Delville Wood. Troops followed a moving barrage and were largely successful. Their left was in contact with 33rd Division which attacked the German front between Wood Lane and the Flers road. Advances up Wood Lane secured the trench junction.
III Corps. The 1st Division made yet another attempt to capture Intermediate Trench and were unsuccessful. The 15th Division consolidated Switch Line which was now in British hands as far as the Bazentin road but failed in their attempts to advance further through this trench system.
II Corps. The 25th Division advancing under a smoke screen captured the Hindenburg Trench.
