Repeated attempts to go forward in XIV Corps sector were beaten back, but significant gains were made in III Corps front.

XIV Corps. Troops from the 3rd Division and from the 25th Division attacked Lonely Trench at various times throught the day. Even with the support of a heavy howitzer bombardment they were unsuccessful. A barrage also broke up the German troops who were forming to attack Skyline Trench.
III Corps. The 15th Division [7th Camerons] made a successful attack on Switch Line. The Germans had the precise location of the trench and laid down a barrage which severely hurt the Camerons. In spite of this other troops [Seaforths and H.L.I.] extended the hold on Switch Line.
