Summary
The Anzacs were involved in repelling German attacks and supporting the extreme left of III Corps. In the afternoon 23 Division, III Corps began attacks on the German trenches and gained some ground, fighting continued through the night. 12 Division, II Corps were attacked by Germans with bombs and flame-throwers. They checked these attacks with rifle anf Lewis gun fire.

III Corps, 23 Division, 69 Brigade bombed the Germans out of another 150 yards of trench and secured the eastern sector of another trench. The West Yorks took over the attack from the Green Howards and fighting continued into the night.
Anzac Corps gave some support to the West Yorks and repelled a strong German attack from Courcelette.
II Corps, 12 Division were holding a line almost at right angles to the remainder of the Corps in effect they were the left flank of the salient created in the advance through Pozieres. At 0400hrs the Germans attacked with flame-throwers and bombs. The Royal Fusiliers were forced back but checked the enemy with rifle and Lewis gun fire.
