Summary
Only the Anzac Corps was fully engaged. Their determined attacks and strong repulse of counter attacks increased and further consolidated the hold on Pozieres village.

Anzac Corps. First Australian division attacking at 0200hrs siezed the forward German lines. Attempts to take the second line were repulsed. 10th Batt. captured a major strong point in the forward trench line. At 0330hrs the securing of Pozieres village began. The 8th Batt. passed through Pozieres and consolidated a position at the cemetery which they linked to strong points in the orchard.
A major counter attack at 0830hrs from the crest to the northeast of the village was broken up by artillery fire from 1st and 25th Divisional guns.
Overnight [25/26] the !st Australian Div. were replaced by the 2nd Australian Div.
