Summary
The Greek fleet positioned itself off the coast of Artemisium, to protect the flank of the Greeks fighting at Thermoplyae and for two days held the Persians at bay although both sides were tentative and cautious. By the third day, word was sent that all was lost at Thermopylae so the Greek Fleet withdrew.
