Norwegian Campaign
Campaign Name : Norwegian Campaign
Date(s) : 28 March 1940
Part of : Second World War , North-West Europe ,
Summary
Early political fumbling by the Allies gave the Germans the initiative. Their invasion to secure essential supplies of iron ore was successful. Allied attempts to disrupt and defeat them consisted of poorly planned, ill-equipped expeditions. The Royal Navy provided landing support, supply, air cover and eventually evacuation for the land forces.
