Summary
The heavily outnumbered Lancastrian army under the Duke of Buckingham held a strong defensive position just south of Northampton. Frontal assaults by the Yorkists under Lord Warwick proved both costly and unsuccessful. The left of the Lancastrian line was held by Lord Grey who trecherously gave up his position. A flank attack led by the Earl of March [later Edward lV] rolled up the Lancastrian line.
The King was captured and led back to London.
