Summary
Morval Sector. All three corps [XIV, XV, III] had achieved their final objectives and consolidated their positions.
Thiepval sector. The Canadian Corps lost many men in their attempts to go forward from their first objective. Strong machine-gun fire held all of their repeated attacks. In the main troops from II Corps were held off by the German defenders but units of 18th Div. had some limited success almost reaching their third objective.
