Summary
The Battle of Morval, 25-28 September, had four villages which lay in an arc northeast to southeast of Flers and about 1000 yards in front of the British line. Units involved from north to south were III Corps, XV Corps and XIV Corps. XIV Corps followed a creeping barrage to take their objectives, Lesboeufs and Morval at little cost. Troops of XV Corps had mixed fortunes with the New Zealanders gaining their objective and other troops suffering heavy casualties for very little gain.
