Numbers involved in the engagement are not known. French losses were said to be light, Austrian losses were heavy, including the capture of one battalion [2nd Bn Sztáray Infantry Regt.] intact. Many other Austrians broke and ran. Since Napoleon entered Italy Austrian morale from General Staff to infantry man was severly dented. The Austrian withdrawal from the south of France was not the fighting retreat it could have been.
