Summary
Initiated by Genghis Khan [1167? - 1227] the war was the bloodiest conflict fought by the Mongols. The destruction of cities which refused immediate entry resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. The Shah was killed and his heir pursued through Afganistan into India. This lead to the first of a series of Mongol invasions of India.
