General McClelland's unsuccessfull attempt to take Richmond by landing on, and advancing up the James Peninsula.

Union forces were halted in front of Richmond and due both to a lack of agression on McClellan's part and tactical brilliance and audacity on Lee's Union forces were forced back to their landing point in 'The Seven Days' battles
