Summary
The French commanded, General Moreau, thought he was facing a small Austrian force. He pushed Victor's division over the river on its own. The Austro-Russians were able to destroy the French as they tried to retreat over the single bridge.
Location
A village in northwestern Italy on the river Tanaro just west of Alessandria. The village also gave its name to the plain on which Napoleon's battle in June 1800 was fought. (Italy)
