Summary
In order to gain time for the withdrawal of the Spanish Army of Galicia and Moore's British troops a Spanish division was left to defend a difficult river crossing. The inept Spanish commander drew his force up with the river behind them. The pursuing troops, the Light Cavalry Division of the Reserve Cavalry Corps, simply charged and took the position with very few losses.
