Summary

The Spaniards led by Blake, being pursued by Victor's I Corps, turned to support his rearguard. For the first day they stood firm and fought well. On the second day the French broke the centre and the whole line collapsed.
Subsequently to this battle many Spaniards deserted reducing Blake's force to around 12,000 men.

Location

A town on the Rio Trueba in the Cantabrian mountains of northern Spain about 34 miles southwest of Bilbao. (Spain)
